About The Band
For many bands, forming a group is a manufactured endeavor bordering on labor, getting together within the sterile walls of a rehearsal space, searching for answers in loose connections. Not so with The Dead Canyon Family Reunion. Formed of close friends in Austin, Texas in early 2024, the band has spent the early days of their career in a living room, sharing food, listening to records, musing on experiences, along with making the music, fusing their love of 60s pysch-rock pioneers such as Syd’s Pink Floyd and the Velvet Underground with modern masters including Spacemen 3, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
Releasing their first double A side single through Lemon Sun Music, the DCFR has quickly garnered the attention of fans and peers alike. The band has recently played Austin pysch-scene landmarks such as the 13th Floor, the Far Out Lounge, and Hotel Vegas, along with festivals, including the Green Acres Hopfest and the La Izquierda Suf and Music Festival in Galveston, Texas.
The DCFR is currently putting the finishing touches on its first full-length self titled debut, slated for August release. From there, the band will spend the rest of the year playing live along with writing and recording yet another album.
The Dead Canyon Family Reunion combines dreamy sometimes lilting female vocals with driving rhythms, ambient, hypnotic guitars, classic keyboards and synths, and bone-shattering bass. DCFR music is both a glance of the past and reflection towards the future.
